Chronic widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and many other symptoms that impair the quality of life. Causes are not specific.
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome in which there is chronic, widespread muscle tenderness as a result of central sensitisation. It is denoted as primary when there is no co-existent disease that causes widespread muscle pain. FMS is considered secondary when myalgia is co-morbid with other disorders.
Diagnosis:
No confirmatory blood tests (biomarkers), imaging or lab analysis are available for fibromyalgia. WPI, SSS questionnaire is used to diagnose Fibromyalgia.

Causes:
- Psychosocial
- Environmental
- Autoimmune triggers (Infections, Trauma)
- Recent studies have found 1/3rd of the patients associated with sicca, sjogren’s syndrome
- Altered gut microbiome axis
